These terms govern your use of Kinfolia (kinfolia.com), a subscription service for private family trees.
The service
A family space is a private, invite-only workspace for one family, owned by the person who created it (the owner). The owner controls billing and membership; admins and editors they appoint help manage content. You are responsible for what you and your invited members add to your space.
Billing
Spaces are billed per family, monthly or yearly, after a 14-day free trial. You can cancel anytime; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. If payment fails, your space becomes read-only after a grace period — your data is not deleted and viewing is never blocked. Deleting a space is an explicit, owner-only action.
Your content
Your family's content belongs to your family. You grant us only the license needed to store and display it to your space's members. The owner can export the full space at any time. Do not upload content you have no right to share, and do not use Kinfolia to harass, impersonate, or harm others.
Adding people & consent
You may add information about a living person only if you have their consent, or, for your own minor child, because you are their parent or guardian. You may not add a child's data without a parent's consent, and you may not upload a voice recording of a child. By adding someone, you confirm you have the right to do so.
Acceptable use
No unlawful content, no attempts to access another family's space, no scraping, and no reselling of the service. You may not upload content that is illegal, that infringes someone else's rights, that depicts the abuse or sexual exploitation of a minor, or that harasses or endangers another person. We may remove content and suspend accounts that break these rules or endanger other users' data.
Reporting content & copyright (DMCA)
If you believe content in a space you can access is unlawful, infringes your rights, or breaks these rules, report it to abuse@kinfolia.com. For copyright, include the work concerned, the material's location, your contact details, and a statement of good-faith belief and accuracy; we operate a notice-and-takedown process and will remove or disable infringing material and, where appropriate, terminate repeat infringers. Our designated agent for copyright notices can be reached at the same address.
Disclaimers
Kinfolia is provided “as is.” We work hard to keep it reliable and your data safe, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. Our total liability is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months before a claim.
Governing law & disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You and Kinfolia agree to resolve disputes through binding individual arbitration in Georgia, and to waive class actions, except that either party may bring a claim in small-claims court or seek injunctive relief for misuse of the service or intellectual property. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
Changes
We may update these terms; material changes will be announced by email to space owners before they take effect.
